§ 2.375.080. Reserve police force—Duties.

  • The duties of a member of the reserve police force, shall be to assist the regular members of the police department of the city in the prevention of crime, the enforcement of law and maintenance of peace and order, and the provision of civil defense assistance during national disasters or disasters caused by enemy action. The police chief by order may fix the specific duties of the members of the force and provide for the maintenance of discipline. The police chief may change such orders from time to time and he/she may command members of the force to obey the instructions of regular police officers and reserve officers in carrying out their duties. The chief may prescribe other duties than those mentioned herein to be performed by a member of the reserve police force consistent with the provisions hereof and subject to the approval of the city manager. A member of the reserve police force shall at all times have the full powers and duties of a peace officer as provided by Penal Code Section 830.1, provided such person qualifies as set forth in Penal Code Section 830.6(a)(2) or Section 832.6(b).
