§ 2.35.040. Waiver of filing fee for indigents.

An indigent candidate for elective office, otherwise qualified under the provisions of Section 1203 of the Charter of the city, may apply for a waiver of the filing fee of $25.00. A declaration for waiver of such fee shall be accepted and the fee waived by the city clerk on the same showing required and accepted for permission to proceed in forma pauperis in the courts of California as provided by Government Code Section 68511.3, as now or hereafter amended. Declarant shall agree to pay such fee from surplus campaign funds, if any, subsequently reported to the city clerk under applicable laws. Such declaration shall be kept confidential by the city clerk.
