§ 13.12.040. Filing before excavation work.

    Each utility company before making or causing to be made any excavation in any street, alley or other public place in the city for the purpose of constructing, installing or laying its works, shall file with the city engineer of the city of Pasadena maps, charts, blue or brown prints, drawings and descriptions, containing the same information with reference to the proposed work as is required in case of existing works by Sections 13.12.020 and 13.12.030 and in addition thereto a statement of the estimated time required for the completion of such proposed works. Maps, charts, blue or brown prints or drawings filed pursuant to the terms of this section shall conform to the requirements of Sections 13.12.020 and 13.12.030 as far as said sections are applicable to new work, provided that in cases of proposed overhead work a map or drawing satisfactory to the city engineer may be filed together with a description conforming to the requirements of Section 13.12.030. If the proposed work does not require excavation but will change the amount or location of space occupied by overhead work, a map thereof satisfactory to the city engineer, and description shall be filed with the city engineer prior to commencement of work and it shall be unlawful to proceed with such work before filing the map and description.

    B.

    The requirements of this section shall not be deemed to apply when the proposed work consists solely of laying lateral service connections or installing overhead service connections. The required maps, charts, blue or brown prints, drawings and descriptions shall be approved by the city engineer and his approval endorsed thereon in writing.
